Learning How to Embrace Weirdness (As An HSP)

Updated: May 22, 2020

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Imagine having to your whole life vividly, deeply, with your senses and instincts amplified, a seemingly very fragile heart and a wild imagination going on in your mind.

Just like taking a imaginary blank canvas, and in any way, filling it up with a variety of colors, textures and shapes. That is how it has been like, for people like some of us here, breathing on the very same planet, coexisting with other humans for generations, for what seems like a long time.

Some would associate being sensitive, or easily overwhelmed by emotions, ideas and anything obtrusive against out 5 senses, as a flaw, and would like a logical, socially acceptable explanation as to why some of us can be very different, or wrong, for living in our own ways.

However, I would like to say that like any other individual, being, idea or aspect both known and unknown to humankind, everything has grey areas, as well as positive and negative sides to them, that will be accepted or loved in their own ways by different types of people who are able to appreciate them.

“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”– Buddha

If you would like, you may consider exploring websites such as Highly Sensitive Refuge and Introvert, Dear to read up on relatable articles about who and how we can be. This is applicable for all MBTI types, be it for introverts or extroverts. To me, knowing that there are others like me in such a huge planet is a source of comfort and solace for me, and I finally gained clarity and reason for why I am the way I am.

So, accept that you, in your own ways, can be unique to you and a selective group of people who place their trust in you, and that there are many things in world that awaits exploration, growth and understanding, for perhaps generations of humankind to come.
